A major storm, Super Typhoon Yagi, is tracking towards Hainan Province and the south-western corner of China later Friday and overnight into Saturday morning.
Some good news is that Hong Kong looks likely to avoid much of the storm.
But Hainan’s capital Haikou, along with Leizhou Peninsula are all in the direct path of this major typhoon – some 15 million people. China has already had over 1 million people displaced so far this summer due to severe weather, mainly flooding.
Later this weekend and into next week YAGI may dump flooding rains over Vietnam and near the capital Hanoi. This will likely be our only update on YAGI but should anything wildly change we will update again.
