If you have any questions about functionality of our website(s) or app, trying to locate maps or data, or have a simple comment/feedback - please post a comment below!
As of 2024 we will no longer be publishing questions related to weather forecasts if they are answered via our hyper-local hourly & 10 day forecasts, weather maps and regular daily and monthly weather & climate videos.
We’re a small NZ business with limited resources to respond to general weather questions. Our social media pages may be helpful to you, especially if you want to often talk (or groan!) about your local weather. You can find more resources from us here if that’s your thing.
Have questions of a commercial nature? Contact us directly here.
Thanks for your support!
Don’t forget to check out our RuralWeather.co.nz website (great for event planning or attending + camping!) and also, our brand new Weather Alerting App!

I see that your forecast is just as stuffed up as ever. I just got in, soaking wet from the rain, putting what I could under cover. The other stuff will have to stay in the rain which is forecast by you to have gone.

Hi there, If rain matters to you this much then you need to read this: https://www.weatherwatch.co.nz/content/education-the-most-accurate-ways-to-read-a-rain-forecast-get-fewer-false-alarms
Being frustrated about not having complete perfection in weather forecasts is like being annoyed you can’t yet fly to and live on Mars. It’s made especially hard when the NZ Government blocks all forecasters from adding rain radar data into forecasts to fix the problem you’re most upset about. Read that article and have fewer nasty surprises in 2025.
Thank you for using our free service when you already pay for/tax fund both NIWA and MetService to provide you also with foreasts.
Kind regards
– WW

Will there be better weather in week 2 of January?

Not likely. Check out the recent video. Most of NZ is supposed to be cooler, just as windy and humid. Also, look at the wind maps and pit ypur city/town/area into the rural section of this website and Viola…..your almost backyard weather.
Yay Summer!!!!

Thanks Phil for your excellent explanations of forecasting weather predictions.
Very interesting indeed as I follow the weather with passion,I’m definitely a junky on this.
Keep up the great work you do.
A very happy New Year to you and the team.
Alan.

Hi Phil,
Really interesting contrasting forecasts for Whangarei for Sun 5th and Monday 6th….yours is for fine weather yet Metservice is predicting rain on both days. Even though we can do with the rain it is not ideal for what we have planned. So hopefully, as per normal your forecast is the more accurate one!!
Happy New Year cheers Wayne

Thank you so much to the WW team for all your hard work and fantastic reporting. Phil, you are the science teacher I wish I had at high school, because you teach us the “why” about what’s happening with the weather, and I learn something from your videos all the time. Hope you and the team get a relaxing few days off!

Re: Ray Walsh’s comment 22nd Dec. The weather is what it is. Forecasts in our area (Waihou) are mostly accurate with events even happening right on queue. We live in a lee-zone (next to the Kaimai’s) so sometimes things just don’t happen. Thanks for a great service Team, and Ray – take a moment to think before you launch into negative comments. Happy New Year!!!!
