As of 2024 we will no longer be publishing questions related to weather forecasts if they are answered via our hyper-local hourly & 10 day forecasts, weather maps and regular daily and monthly weather & climate videos.
We’re a small NZ business with limited resources to respond to general weather questions. Our social media pages may be helpful to you, especially if you want to often talk (or groan!) about your local weather. You can find more resources from us here if that’s your thing.

Thanks for your support!
Don’t forget to check out our RuralWeather.co.nz website (great for event planning or attending + camping!) and also, our brand new Weather Alerting App!

Will there be better weather in week 2 of January?

Not likely. Check out the recent video. Most of NZ is supposed to be cooler, just as windy and humid. Also, look at the wind maps and pit ypur city/town/area into the rural section of this website and Viola…..your almost backyard weather.
Yay Summer!!!!

Thanks Phil for your excellent explanations of forecasting weather predictions.
Very interesting indeed as I follow the weather with passion,I’m definitely a junky on this.
Keep up the great work you do.
A very happy New Year to you and the team.
Alan.

Hi Phil,
Really interesting contrasting forecasts for Whangarei for Sun 5th and Monday 6th….yours is for fine weather yet Metservice is predicting rain on both days. Even though we can do with the rain it is not ideal for what we have planned. So hopefully, as per normal your forecast is the more accurate one!!
Happy New Year cheers Wayne

Thank you so much to the WW team for all your hard work and fantastic reporting. Phil, you are the science teacher I wish I had at high school, because you teach us the “why” about what’s happening with the weather, and I learn something from your videos all the time. Hope you and the team get a relaxing few days off!

Re: Ray Walsh’s comment 22nd Dec. The weather is what it is. Forecasts in our area (Waihou) are mostly accurate with events even happening right on queue. We live in a lee-zone (next to the Kaimai’s) so sometimes things just don’t happen. Thanks for a great service Team, and Ray – take a moment to think before you launch into negative comments. Happy New Year!!!!

Hi Phil, Merry Christmas to you and your team! I thoroughly enjoy your (almost) daily videos and Rural Weather etc, I know it can be tricky to be accurate all the time but you provide us with vast amounts of info which is much appreciated. Keep up the good work! Cheers, Bill.

I’m with you Bill. I love this app! I’m a weather junkie from way back. And weather is ‘a box of chocolates’ to borrow Forest’s saying. Thanks for always doing your best. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and the team.
