A cool southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, a few showers in the west and mainly dry in the east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, more so from afternoon. Fresh west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, Kapiti stays mainly dry though. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-16

Eastern North Island

Morning sun then some cloud from afternoon, west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-19

Wellington

Partly cloudy, southerly breezes ease dying out by evening.
High: 13-14

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light southwesterlies tend north to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury

Mostly sunny, some high cloud. Coastal mid level cloud about Banks Peninsula gradually clears away. Breezy southwesterlies ease dying out by evening.
Highs: 12-14

West Coast

Sunny areas for South Westland, cloud thickens from afternoon then rain pushes into Fiordland from afternoon moving northwards in the evening. Cloudy areas further north with the odd shower for Buller, overnight rain. Southwesterlies.
Highs: 10-13

Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy about Southland and coastal Otago, may be a spit then showers push through from evening with a gusty west to southwest change (not reaching coastal Otago till midnight). Central Otago has sunny areas and some high cloud, a few overnight spits.
Highs: 12-13
