Weather Video: Low pressure to drift away, high pressure to somewhat replace it

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Subtropical low is feeding some rain and patchy light showers in the upper North Island today and that will continue to some eastern parts of the North Island on Thursday while high pressure grows elsewhere making for drier, calmer, weather.

However this weekend the westerlies kick in and that has a double effect.

  1. It makes for sunnier and milder weather in the east.
  2. It brings the rain back to the west.

By Sunday night or Monday there could be another cold sou’west change bringing snow to the South Island mountains and ranges.
