VIDEO: Sou’West flow dominates NZ, but easterlies might be coming later

A huge high near Tasmania is controlling NZ’s weather for the next week or two ahead – but low pressure zones to our north and south are still in the mix.

A colder change today over the South Island will see some low pressure to the south, then next week a new area of low pressure tries to form north of NZ.

This next low may help produce some wet weather and windier east to south east winds into the North Island next week. But between now and then it’s all about the cooler sou’west airflow for NZ, which eases back this weekend.
