Powerful high pressure is crossing the South Island today and tomorrow then will lie east of the country going into next week. This will bring dry weather and lighter winds, along with colder nights, into many regions.
However as the high moves through an easterly will develop at the top of the North Island, bringing some cloud and showers/isolated downpours.
Windier northerlies will form through Cook Strait and a light westerly will develop in southern NZ this weekend (or early next week).
By Wednesday next week the high is moving away from NZ bringing milder northerlies.
But later next week a windy westerly is expected – as a very large pool of low pressure moves into our part of the world.
We also have your 7 Day NZ rainfall outlook.
Have a great weekend!
