Mr Blobby the high crosses over NZ this weekend but it departs slowly next week and may help to fuel a low in the Tasman Sea with a sub-tropical airflow.
This low may then bring in more widespread rain than we’ve seen recently to parched parts of the country. It’s not locked in yet, but the modelling has been lining this up for a number of days now which is boosting our forecast confidence even more.
In Friday’s RainWatch video update we’ll try to confirm how likely rain is in our driest regions, but it may not be until early next week that we can be more sure of things.
Until then, a few showers move in but the main weather feature is high pressure from Friday to Tuesday crossing New Zealand from west to east.
