A more changeable forecast is likely for NZ over the coming 10 days as we start to see an Autumn weather pattern shifting more nationwide. This doesn’t mean the summer weather is over, but it does mean there will be more unsettled days in the mix – which is good news if you need rain.
We break down the highs and lows over the next 10 days plus a long range rain forecast.
Don’t forget our next ClimateWatch update is out this Friday, covering the next month or two ahead.

So just wondering how Spring lasted until January but Autumn is arriving in late February, making Summer just 2 months long?

Hi Sarah
I’ve said for years NZ only has a 2 month Summer and a 2 month Winter, weatherwise – the other 8 months are like Spring or Autumn, due to our location on earth. Here’s a blog I wrote a decade ago about it 🙂

Also our location on earth is why our seasons are so windy and changeable: https://www.weatherwatch.co.nz/content/why-is-nz-so-windy-we-explain-the-roaring-forties
