VIDEO: Large low looms for NZ – we break it down for you

NZ has real variety with the weather this week as sub-tropical winds move off the country today to be replaced by a colder southerly…only to be replaced by another milder northerly flow by late Wednesday and Thursday.

The next northerly is ahead of a very large low which looks to take up much of the Tasman Sea area – and pushing a wintry south-easterly flow into Australia. At this stage NZ looks to be on the milder side of things (although we still expect snow on the hills and ranges around the lower South Island).

We break down where the wind and rain will be – and explain this isn’t 100% locked in, so some further forecast changes are likely.

Our next update is around lunchtime Tuesday.
