VIDEO: Antarctic blast to bring snow into both main islands of NZ

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A major polar blast this week will see snow fall to sea level in parts of the South Island and low levels in the North Island.

The mid-spring cold blast will be short lived, fading out by Friday as a big frosty high rolls in. But the first cold front arrives Tuesday PM and the main pulse of cold air looks to peak over New Zealand on Wednesday night / Thursday morning.

We cover who will get snow and how brutal windchill be.

We also have details up at WeatherWatch.co.nz and RuralWeather.co.nz highlighting which main centres/towns have a chance of snow this week.

AUSTRALIA: Heavy rain moves in through the interior of NSW and VIC this week with up to 80mm expected. This may flood some streams but will be good for pasture growth. We have a special 5 day rainfall map.
