A large low continues to deepen in the Tasman Sea region today and tomorrow then starts to drift towards NZ – but also starts to weaken.
The low will tap into warmer than average sub-tropical air for northern NZ until the weekend. Rainfall totals in some locations will be over 100mm and winds will rise to gale in exposed areas too.
Meanwhile, the South Island is under high pressure and gets some cloud and nor’easters from the northern low, otherwise dry and settled.
