A 7.5 magnitude earthquake has struck the Vanuatu Islands.
Its focus was at a depth of 21 kilometres and the quake generated a tsunami which was only 30 centimetres tall when it reached Port Vila.
Civil Defence says it’s unlikely there’ll be any threat to New Zealand.
The NZ Herald reports that the NZ High Commission has been damaged and that powerlines are down.
The Herald also says the quake generated a 22cm tsunami.
