> From the WeatherWatch archives

About 25,000 homes in north Queensland are still without power as the clean-up continues from Cyclone Ului.

The category three system crossed the coast on Sunday morning at Airlie Beach, causing widespread blackouts in and around Airlie Beach and Mackay.

Ergon Energy’s Bob Pleash says most homes and businesses should have electricity by this afternoon.

“We are hoping to get the majority of customers back on there will be some customers whose premises will have suffered structural damage we will be anticipating to get the majority of customers on where it is safe to do so,” he said.

“There will be some customers where they will need to get repairs done to their premises before they can be safely reconnected.”
