An anticyclone lies over New Zealand today bringing settled and sunny conditions for most with afternoon sea breezes, some cloud morning and night is possible.

Upper North Island

Sunny weather with some cloud at times, chance of morning fog about the Waikato however it will quickly burn away. Winds generally light inland and sea breezes near the coast. Easterlies about eastern Northland may bring some cloud from time to time and about eastern Coromandel and Great Barrier Island there may be a brief morning shower. Sunny and cloudy areas for Gisborne with southeast breezes.

Lower North Island

Mostly sunny weather with afternoon sea breezes, light winds inland. Chance of a few morning fog patches about the Central North Island any of which will burn away in the morning.
HIGHS: 21-26

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny about Nelson and on the east coast, areas of cloud possible morning and night. Light winds inland but sea breezes in coastal areas, northeasterlies a bit brisk about the coast in the afternoon about Canterbury. On the West Coast expect cloudy areas however a few sunny breaks in the afternoon.
HIGHS: 20-24

Lower South Island

Cloudy on the West Coast south of the Glaciers with northerly breezes, mostly sunny elsewhere with light winds, northeasterlies along the east coast. In the evening winds tend southerly about eastern Otago.
HIGHS: 20-24, 30 inland

Warmest – Central Otago

Windiest – Easterlies about the tip of Northland and east to northeast breezes about the Canterbury coast in the afternoon will become quite brisk.

Sunniest – Central Otago, but many parts of the South Island and North Island will be quite sunny today.

Wettest – Eastern Coromandel and maybe Great Barrier Island may receive a morning shower.
