Tuesday Newsfeed: High pressure and cloud for many regions

Low pressure is mostly collapsing over the Tasman Sea for Tuesday and Wednesday with high pressure crossing New Zealand.

While most regions are dry to mainly dry, there will be a fair amount of cloud around – which for some places has been around for nearly a week. Sunniest on Tuesday will be eastern parts of the South Island including Christchurch and Dunedin. Greyest will be in the north and west of NZ.

The Far North and Gisborne areas have the best chance of showers over the next couple of days, but low accumulation. We’ll have more details in our weather video out today and check your local forecast to drill down deeper.

Milder airflows are returning to NZ this week – with the chance of frosts reducing in the nights ahead.
