Tropical Storms Fred & Linda

Tropical Storm Fred has strengthened today and as of 11 am ET top winds were near 115kmh. Fred is located southwest of the Cape Verde Islands in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean. It is moving west at 30km/h and additional strengthening is likely.

Fred has the potential to become a hurricane later today or Wednesday.

Fred is not expected to threaten any land masses.

EASTERN PACIFIC

Tropical Storm Linda is meandering well out to sea about to the west-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It has drifted westward at around walking speed so far today. As of 8 a.m. Pacific Time Tuesday, it has winds of 100km/h.

Linda is forecast to strengthen a little bit over the next 24 hours and could approach hurricane status before it begins to weaken Thursday.

Linda is no threat to any land masses.
