A weak colder change is moving northwards today with temperatures dropping a little but only the very south of the South Island looks colder than normal – just.

The south west flow will be a little windy in some exposed areas.

NORTH ISLAND:
A fairly dry over the island with a few isolated showers early in the day. Showers increase in the afternoon along the western coastline with westerlies picking up a little in many places.
Highs: 12 to 19

SOUTH ISLAND:
Showers, mostly on the West Coast and Southland, turning to rain around Southland (or frequent showers) and becoming colder with windier southerlies in the south. Colder air covers the entire South Island by the end of the day. A colder than average night for many. Mostly dry in the north around Nelson and Marlborough. A few snow flurries around/near Queenstown tonight/overnight and the southern ranges.
Highs: 5 to 15
