A band of rain with nor’easters lies over East Cape and will spread westwards towards Waikato today and southwards towards the upper South Island tonight.

NORTH ISLAND:
Rain around eastern Bay of Plenty, East Cape and Gisborne spreading west and south over the island. Large areas of patchy, drizzly and light rain but some heavy falls. Rain may become heavy again tonight around East Cape and Gisborne (with more rain on Monday). Meanwhile any rain or showers that spread west will clear by evening. NE winds in the east and light more variable winds elsewhere. Quite pleasant in the Far North.
Highs: 9 to 16

SOUTH ISLAND:
There may be some foggy areas lingering for a time. Some drizzle or light showers possible in the west early then mainly dry. Cloudy areas elsewhere. NE winds along the eastern coastline. Calm inland for most areas. Quite pleasant in the Deep South.
Highs: 8 to 16
