If you’re really feeling the heat today, you’re not alone. Temperatures across New Zealand are surging into the mid 20s and even early 30s in some parts of the country.
This hour it’s 25 degrees in Kaikohe and Whitianga. Auckland has 23 but with humidity around 55% there’s a feel like temperature of 26 degrees – probably closer to 30 in the CBD.
It’s around 23/24 across Waikato and Bay of Plenty but 30 in Gisborne. WeatherWatch.co.nz predicts temperatures are around 33 degrees further inland.
Hastings has 25 while a string of centres from New Plymouth to Wellington are in the late teens or early 20s. Wellington has a strong northerly gusting to 70km/h.
In the South Island and Blenheim has 25, Christchurch is also on 25 but was 28 last hour with winds shifting a little more north east.
The biggest contrast is probably in Dunedin where’s it’s only 15 while just up the road in Oamaru it’s 24.
