POLL RESULTS: High and dry on the line

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The results of our latest poll are out, and kiwis have had their say – it’s line drying for most after clothes come out of the wash, although heading into winter, things could well change!

Our poll asked “how do you dry your washing?” and it certainly caught the attention of our readers – with some robust discussion about method and technique in the comments section!

Those who favour outdoor line drying were clearly in the majority, nearly 65 percent of respondents favouring the traditional method, while more than 20 percent hang their clothes inside – possibly a reflection of some recent rain!

One reader, John, wrote:

“Used to use the fence but now we have a proper rotary clothes line.

On wet days expecially from now and during the winter we have a clothes-horse which we put in the front room or under the verandah if it is sunny.”

This seemed to be a typical response – perhaps as winter draws near, we might see a skewing in responses towards the indoor methods, but while the sun’s out, make the most of it!
