Poll Results: Dreaming of a bright Christmas

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Well the results of our latest poll, asking what kind of weather we wanted on Christmas Day shouldn’t really come as any surprise, although the margin wasn’t as clear cut as we thought it would be!

Our poll asked the question “Do you care about Christmas weather?”, given the increasing number of people who will be working or otherwise engaged on the day itself.

The response was overwhelmingly in favour of sunshine, with 66.36% of respondents voting in favour of a sunny 25th, while just under 15% played the grinch card, hoping for rain, and 19% couldn’t care less – presumably because they have drawn the short straw and are working right through.

One commenter, Derek, made the observation that the times have certainly changed with attitudes toward the holiday season:

“Your comment about so many people working now is a sad reflection of the time, when I was a kid everything was closed for 4 days at least and everyone could enjoy the season with family and friends. Today it is one day closed then into massive sales etc, way too comercialsed and results in less and less time to enjoy. No wonder eveyone is stressed out.”

Interesting talking point he raises there – and I’m sure there will be many likeminded individuals out there too!

Watch this space for our next poll, up this afternoon at 2pm!

I missed the poll last week but to be totally honest I wouldn’t mind a lot of rain on Christmas day…..but that’s so I DON’T have to work. The ground is so dry at the moment and we are trying to establish a new lawn on a commercial property and it it doesn’t rain I will have to water which will take a good two hours. Besides, rain is far better for new lawns than irrigating…does it have something to to with natural minerals or lack of chemicals that are put into our water before we drink it? I have often wondered!

Keep up the good work guys and have a lovely break with your families
