Pluto makes history – NASA’s up-close Photo

This image was captured by New Horizons 16 hours before the moment of closest approach.  It was taken on Monday July 13th.

The spacecraft was 766,048kms from Pluto’s surface.

New Horizons was lanched in 2006 on a 5 billion kilometre journey to the dwarf planet.
