The unsettled weather continues today with a southerly airflow over the South Island and northwesterlies over the North Island. The east coast of the North Island will experience today’s warmest temperatures possibly getting up to 30 degrees.

Southland & Otago
Any early showers clear then sunny areas increase, cool south to southwest winds.
Highs: 14-16
 
West Coast
Scattered rain easing later in the evening then clearing at night, south to southwest breezes.
Highs: 18-19
 
Canterbury
Patchy rain or drizzle clearing at night, cool southerlies.
Highs: 14-15
 
Marlborough & Nelson
A few sunny spells this morning, southerlies pick up in the afternoon bringing rain.
Highs: 18-21
 
Wellington
Mainly dry this morning with northerlies, perhaps the chance of a few showers. In the afternoon southerlies pick up with rain more likely.

Western North Island
Breezy west to northwest winds, mostly cloudy with periods of rain possibly heavy and thundery for a time in the afternoon. Rain eases at night with a southerly change.

East of the North Island
Mostly sunny weather with northwesterlies, a period of rain late afternoon eases at night.
Highs: 27-30
 
Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Morning showers clear with sunny areas developing, northwesterlies. Late afternoon or evening a few further showers develop
