A ridge slips away from the North Island today then northerlies build over New Zealand during the day, a front pushes in from the west in the evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and thickening cloud, rain develops about Northland in the afternoon then spreads southwards during the evening. Any morning fog about the Waikato clears. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Thickening cloud with rain developing in the evening. Northeasterly winds, strengthening about the coast.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with developing high cloud, overnight rain spreads from the west. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington
Cloudy areas and occasional sun, overnight rain. Northerly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, the odd shower about Nelson from afternoon then overnight rain for all (heavy for a time about Nelson). Northerly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury
Sunny areas and some high cloud, north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast
Thick high cloud, rain about Fiordland with the odd heavy fall from midday. Northeasterly winds.

Southland & Otago
Thick high cloud, some scattered rain moves into Southland during the afternoon. North to northeasterly winds, tending southwest about Southland in the evening.
