High pressure is over the Tasman Sea, low pressure is east of East Cape. It means a variety of airflows. mostly southerly and easterly driven for many places. The low has sub-tropical connections, the high over the Tasman Sea has cooler airflows for NZ.
Showers are mostly around the North Island, but some in the eastern South Island too – or drizzle.
Keep an eye on the % / chance of rain for general highest risk times for wet weather. (And if wet weather really matters to you even a 5% risk can mean a downpour is possible around that hour – so track on rain radar if important). Our new app has clearer rain graphs to see risk times and latest MetService rain radar imagery – giving you more tools for fewer nasty surprises.
The South Island is generally more settled today and tomorrow.
We have no weather video today/Monday due to Auckland Anniversary.
