A ridge lies over much of New Zealand today however a low continues to affect the upper North Island which brings some rain, gradually clearing away during the day. An anticyclone covers most of New Zealand on Wednesday, a northwesterly airflow slowly pushes in over the South Island bringing warm temperatures.

Rain or showers clears the upper North Island for most this morning then afternoon sun breaks through, showers don’t clear Northland till later in the day however. The odd light shower for the east coast with cool southerlies, drier out west. The South Island is mostly sunny, some morning cloud about Southland / Otago breaks away.

Mainly sunny weather across much of the North Island on Wednesday, morning cloud clears in the east. Some cloud affects Kapiti and Wellington during the day. The South Island is mainly settled, some cloud in the west especially for Fiordland with evening drizzle there.
