A low and combined southeasterly airflow brings unsettled weather to the North Island today, calmer for the South Island although areas of cloud persist in the east at times. A southerly airflow lies over all of New Zealand on Friday, showers or rain in the east while conditions are drier and sunnier out west.
A mix of showers, heavy rain and possible thunderstorms for the North Island today. Southeasterly winds will be strong about southwestern regions especially near the coast. The South Island is a bit calmer however areas of cloud still hang around along the east coast, a few morning showers for Nelson and Marlborough, continuing about the Sounds for much of the day. Sunny for the West Coast.
A cool day for eastern New Zealand on Friday with showers for most regions, morning rain may be heavy about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne then easing from afternoon. Drier conditions for western New Zealand, chance of an isolated shower about Northland and Auckland in the evening.
