Low pressure covers New Zealand today with a centre off to the west of the country in the Tasman Sea and another off to the northeast of the North Island. A low pressure system continues to lie over New Zealand on Friday with two centres either side of the country.
Fairly dry for most of the North Island today however there may be some heavy rain about Gisborne / East Cape then easing in the evening. A few showers about the Bay Of Plenty and perhaps Waikato this afternoon also. The odd shower moves into Northland this evening. There may also be areas of low cloud or fog to start the day. For the South Island, in the west expect the odd shower. In the east expect a mix of sun and cloud, light winds tend to the east or southeast in the afternoon.
Mainly dry for the upper North Island on Friday morning, perhaps some fog to start then afternoon isolated showers develop with a possibility of thunderstorms. Rain or showers about Wellington and the Wairarapa spreading into Hawkes Bay and Gisborne during the afternoon / evening. The South Island is mainly dry, cloudy areas in the east while sunnier conditions are out west.
