A front moves onto the North Island on Thursday meanwhile expect cool southerlies further south.
A dry morning for many North Island regions on Thursday then showers develop in the afternoon. The Wellington and perhaps Wairarapa regions sees rain from morning with the odd heavy fall possible during the day. Southeasterlies become gusty through Cook Strait.
Morning rain eases to showers for the eastern South Island, rain could be heavy about Nelson and Marlborough in the morning then easing. Morning showers in the west clear to mostly sunny weather.
