An anticyclone lies over the North Island on Saturday, northerlies for the South Island. A ridge slips away from the North Island on Sunday while northerlies strengthen over the south Island, a front moves onto the lower South Island later in the day.
Mainly settled for most of the North Island on Saturday, some cloud at times for western regions. The South Island has a fairly typical setup, mostly cloudy skies in the west while conditions are sunnier out east.
Mostly cloudy for the western North Island on Sunday, there may be a light shower or two about otherwise conditions are mainly dry. A sunny day for the east coast. Northerlies strengthen over the South Island, cloud in the west with rain becoming heavy later in the day. High cloud in the east with mainly dry weather, later in the evening rain moves into Southland.
