A front moves northwards over the upper South Island this morning then onto the lower North Island this afternoon bringing rain. A ridge hangs over the country on Tuesday while a low deepens in the Tasman Sea.
Some heavy rain possible this morning for the upper South Island then the lower North Island this afternoon. Mainly settled for the upper North Island with warm temperatures along the east coast before rain arrives this afternoon / evening. Rain or showers easing and gradually clearing for the lower South Island today, sunny for South Westland and becoming sunny this afternoon about North Westland once morning rain clears away.
On Tueday. A few patchy showers or some drizzle hangs about the North Island Auckland southwards in the west, along the east coast morning showers clear then some afternoon sun breaks through, a few showers moving back into the Wairarapa and perhaps Hawkes Bay in the evening. Mainly sunny for the lower South Island after any morning cloud breaks away, expect plenty of high cloud however. A little cloudier for the upper South Island especially about Nelson and Marlborough where some patchy rain moves in late afternoon or evening.
