InfoGraphic: The Big Picture for Monday / Tuesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A west to southwesterly airflow lies over the North Island today while a colder more southerly airflow lies over the South Island. Southerlies spread into the lower North Island during this afternoon and evening. A ridge brings settled weather to the South Island on Tuesday, south to southeasterly winds ease over the North Island.

A little unsettled today with showers for the western North Island, rain develops this afternoon in the east about Wairarapa then a few showers move into Hawkes Bay / Gisborne in the evening. Morning showers clear for the South Island’s West Coast then sunny areas develop, rain in the east with cold southwesterly winds. Some snow is likely high up in the mountains, good for the ski fields.

A mainly sunny day for western parts of the North Island on Tuesday, just a few morning showers about western Northland to clear away. In the east the odd shower peppers coastal fringes during the day. The South Island is mainly sunny although there may be some coastal morning cloud, perhaps a clearing morning shower about Banks Peninsula.
