Low pressure sits west of the country today and on Saturday meanwhile a large high sits out to the east, both systems combine to direct a northeasterly airflow over New Zealand.

Areas of rain or showers for western parts of New Zealand on Friday and Saturday, rain may be heavy along the South Island’s West Coast at times. Generally speaking conditions are drier in the east however a few showers may moves through at times for the South Island’s East Coast, especially inland.

Conditions on Saturday for the upper North Island are mainly dry with the shower risk mainly about eastern coastal areas in the morning and northern parts of Northland during the day.
