A ridge covers New Zealand today, extending out from an anticyclone in the Tasman Sea. A light west to southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand on Saturday.

Mainly settled today, along the North Island’s east coast a few morning showers or drizzle patches clear then some sun breaks through from afternoon, cloud may hang on about Gisborne for most of the day however. Mostly sunny for the South Island, expect some cloud at times about Southland and along the West Coast.

A few showers affect western parts of the country on Saturday, sunny in the east after a frosty start. Light winds.
