Anticyclonic conditions brings mainly settled weather for the South Island on Friday, southeasterlies for the North Island bring rain in the east and the chance of a shower out west.

Rain may still be heavy at times along the east coast of the North Island on Friday. Drier out west however there may be a shower late afternoon / evening.

The South Island is mainly sunny however expect some cloud Banks Peninsula northwards in the east. Morning frosts likely about the inner South Island.
