Hot weather will affect most of New Zealand’s main centres today predicts WeatherWatch.co.nz.
The weather news authority says hot, humid, air will reman over the North Island with sunny spells adding to the heat.
Meanwhile strong, hot and dry nor’westers move into eastern and southern parts of the South Island.
WeatherWatch.co.nz predicts Auckland, Whakatane, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wanganui, Gisborne, Napier, Hastings, Masterton and Palmerston north will all make the late 20s (27 to 29) today and coupled with humidity some ares may ‘feel like’ the mid 30s.
Meanwhile it will be the hot, dry, nor’wester that cranks up over the South Island’s eastern and southern areas. Highs into the late 20s are expected right down the east coast and even about Southland, while inland areas may climb into the mid 30s, however humidity will be fairly low.
The prediction is for the extreme heat and humidity to ease later in the week.
Humidex levels in the north should drop significantly by Christmas Eve with hot winds also dying out over the South Island.
