Reports are coming in of very heavy rain falling in the Gisborne area this evening. 

WeatherWatch.co.nz’s Gisborne reporter, Darryl Mallet, says high winds are associated with the torrential rain and surface flooding is also becoming apparent.

More heavy rain is forecast for the region tonight with an easing taking place later tomorrow.
