Just returned home from hockey training in Palmerston North. In the space of an hours training, a decent layer of ice had covered my car!. There were also patches of ice forming on the outer edges of the water turf. Beautiful clear night; can’t wait to see the frost we’re going to have in the morning.

Rain radar on metservice showing rain due to hit within an hour or two (if it is rain) would this rain be the warm front?. Last hour Burwood weather station and my own showed temp rising from 3 deg to 5 between 7-8o-clock but now dropping – thought that was strange must have been a light westerly.

Hi there,

Yep that first band will be the warm front…although I use the word "warm" very loosely!  These fronts look more inclined to bring in showers rather than rain…Saturday is another story though.  Definitely the chance for snow to lowish levels around Canterbury again.  Amazing end to Autumn!

Keep us updated on conditions in your area.

Cheers,

Philip Duncan

Definitely a chance of light frosts in some sheltered places around Auckland however in the past hour a few little clouds have appeared and temps seem to have stopped falling so quickly…if at all.
