A broad but weak low pressure system lies over New Zealand today, a front associated with this low gradually moves from west to east over the North Island during the day.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Early rain eases to the odd shower and sunny spells, about the Bay Of Plenty rain takes a little longer to ease with the chance of some sun only at the end of the day before dusk. Light winds.
Highs: 14-16
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Early rain clears, some sun may then break through but there could also be a remaining shower or two at times. Light winds.
Highs: 12-14
Eastern North Island
Some rain about the Wairarapa spreads into Hawkes Bay during the morning then reaching Gisborne around midday. Rain then clears from the south afternoon onwards. North to northeasterly winds.

Wellington
Early rain clears then sunny areas develop, light northerly winds.
High: 13
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny or becoming sunny early in the morning, light winds.
Highs: 14-16
Canterbury
Morning fog possible then some sun, a few showers later in the day. Light winds.
Highs: 10-13
West Coast
Any early showers clear then areas of sun increase, a few showers may hang about the mountains of South Westland till evening then clearing. Light winds.
Highs: 12-14
Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy with a patchy shower or two, clearing in the evening for most however continuing through the night for coastal Otago. Some sun breaks through from afternoon for Central Otago. East to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-11
