Friday Newsfeed: Anticyclone moves in to the south, low pressure hovers near the north

We have no video today sorry, back again on Monday — Severe frosts are in place across highland parts of the South Island, while low pressure near Northland brings rain, showers and easterlies into the upper North Island.

Wintry showers continue in the eastern North Island south of East Cape.

The subantarctic airflow much of New Zealand has felt in the past couple of days now moves further north towards about Auckland/Waikato/Coromandel Peninsula. Further north of there it’s slightly milder thanks to the low pulling down air from further north of New Zealand.

The high pressure zone expands further into the North Island on Saturday, but the low remains in place near Northland and Auckland.
