Easter Weekend Newsfeed: High pressure is moving in

Lighter winds, cool nights and slightly milder afternoons are on the way for many places this weekend as high pressure slowly moves back into NZ from the Tasman Sea area.

A large low to the east of the North Island remains, but also gradually drifts eastwards and by Easter Monday it should be well east of the country – allowing lighter winds over NZ.

High pressure systems past the autumn equinox don’t always bring in sunny weather for all, some in the west may have cloud at times this Monday and Tuesday. Despite it being mostly dry we can sometimes have isolated light showers or drizzle patches in the coastal west, caused by anticyclonic gloom.

Our new app has a cloud forecaster in it, also a fog and frost forecaster.
