A new low that formed north east of New Zealand today pumped in warmer air across Northland, Coromandel, Waikato and Bay of Plenty, but spared Auckland. The nation’s largest city peaked at 15 but spent most of the day around 12.
Again it was the South Island’s West Coast that proudly took the national high with 19 degrees in Westport.
It was a different story on the exact opposite side of the Southern Alps with today’s lowest maximum temperature just 6 at Hanmer Springs and in Culverden.
