Best Christmas weather this decade?

> From the WeatherWatch archives

WeatherWatch.co.nz has increasing confidence that the weather this Christmas Day will be the best holiday weather Kiwi’s have experienced so far this decade.

Weather analyst Richard Green says it’s been at least 10 years since such dry, hot and settled conditions were forecast for most main centres on Christmas Day.

Richard Green says some places will be very hot.  “Temperatures across inland Canterbury and inland Hawkes Bay may well be nudging the 30 degree mark if the nor’wester kicks into gear”.

Meanwhile MetService has only one item in their severe weather outlook for the next few days, and they only have “low confidence” that it will eventuate, forecasting heavy rain for our most remote regions – Fiordland and southern Westland on Boxing Day.
