> From the WeatherWatch archives

Hail storms were reported in Rotorua yesterday afternoon following on from the massive hail storms, that WeatherWatch.co.nz exclusively reported as “golf ball size”.  So what is the threat for today?

Even more unstable weather is predicted today but solely for the North Island.

MetService, in their thunderstorm outlook, predict a “moderate risk” of thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail for Bay of Plenty including Te Puke, Rotorua, Kawerau and Murupara.

They have a low risk for other areas which include Tauranga city, Mt Maunganui, Whakatane, Gisborne, Wairoa, Napier, Tokoroa, Taupo and Masterton.
