Your Weekend Picture: Sunny for some, rain for others

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The large low pressure system in the Southern Ocean, south west of NZ, continues to pump out showers and bands of rain towards the South Island’s West Coast.  For many other areas the wind flow, coupled with the timing of the next front, means the weekend itself may well be sunny and dry.

Next week looks quite unsettled for many areas with more rain and showers moving in – and winds picking up at times as this large Southern Ocean low slowly tracks by to our south (and partially crosses NZ).  It will take another 7 days to do this – so get used to warmer than average weather for many places until the end of next week.
