Your Friday forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Tomorrow should be another lovely day for most of New Zealand.

The dry weather should be right where it’s been wet.

The whole North Island looks dry and settled for tomorrow.  I can’t totally rule out the possibility of a stray shower around Auckland.  But really, the chance is so small that I am probably just going to take it out of the forecast.

Much of the South Island looks dry during the day.  Greymouth and Hokitika may pick up a few stray showers in the morning with an increasing chance for rain as the day wears on.  Showers may push into Christchurch during the evening and into the night..

The wet weather should be right where it’s been dry.  Sort of.

Greymouth and Hokitika probably are not excited to see drops falling from the sky tomorrow.  However, a few showers are a pretty good bet.  Chances are small in the morning, but then will increase as the day wears on.  A few showers may leak into Canterbury, including the Christchurch area, during the evening.

Where the rain is needed, is Southland.  The good news is that rain will push on shore during the afternoon and evening and continue into early Saturday morning.  It does not, however, look like Dunedin will see much of this.  That may change for the end of the weekend.

Stay tuned…

Where rain is needed is not only Southland but also Otago!!. We are seriously dry – no rain this month and a record low 9mm for December – it’s commonly called a drought!!
