A burst of severe weather is expected in New Zealand around Tuesday and Wednesday next week bringing heavy rain back into the north of both main islands and some severe gales. Winds will be subtropical which will lift temperatures and reduce frosts.

Later next week colder air returns to NZ as low pressure moves back in over the country.
