WW POLL RESULTS: 77% of Kiwis would survive a disaster

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Well that’s something of a relief – but an eye opener too – as the results of this week’s poll seem to show that most New Zealanders are pretty fairly placed, should the unthinkable occur.

At the start of the week, we asked how many of our readers were prepared for an emergency situation without any outside help – and to be honest, we weren’t sure what to expect!

Thankfully, it seems that most of those who voted are at least somewhat prepared for the worst – with 44% of respondents saying they “could scrape by” for 3 days with current supplies, while a third said they would be comfortable without help for that long.

Those of you in the remaining 23% are highly encouraged to check out the Civil Defence website www.getthru.govt.nz – which has tips, helpful starting points, and some useful contact info to get you on the way!
