WINDY IN NORTH

WeatherWatch.co.nz

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s a windy day across northern New Zealand as strong nor’easters blow in around a large high to the east.

Winds near gale force are blowing across the Hauraki Gulf with gusts to 90km/h further north at Cape Reinga.

In Auckland 30km/h winds are gusting to 50km/h.

But it’s not cold when you’re out of the wind…temperatures are already up to 18 degrees from Auckland northwards.

Taranaki and Wellington also have gusty conditions.

I had a great afternoon out in the wind! I rode my horse down to the estuary and we rode round the mangroves and out onto the beach. We paddled in the sea and the wind was so strong it was great!! We had a gallop back across the sand…. fantastic!
